Authentic Shikibuton Hand Made Japanese Futon. Made in USA with 100% USA Cotton. This Japanese futon is constructed of 100% Cotton inner with 100% Cotton Cover. There is no foam. springs or synthetics in this futon. This futon is hand-crafted with the help of vintage machinery. We are the ONLY manufacturer with this vintage machinery in the USA. Our machines are almost 100ys old and allow us to recreate a 100% Pure Cotton Futon Mattress that is intended to be placed on the floor to sleep and rolled or folded and put away when not needed. This is how the Japanese have been sleeping for centuries and how we used to sleep 100 years ago (placed on a rope base-hence the phrase sleep tight). We prefer the simplicity of this futon over any other. This futon carries a 5-year Manufactures Warranty on materials and construction. This Japanese style futon meets US fire retardant standards by using a natural boric acid material molecularly bonded to the cotton via the natural cotton oil present. It will not come out by any means and is non-reactive. This futon is 4 thick and can be special ordered in 3 thick (contact us). Comfort level is firm. Each futon is hand made to order. Please allow 2-3 days to ship. (excluding weekends and holidays) FUTON SIZES Our futons are sized to fit American bed frames. Please note that Japanese style shikifutons are not meant for American futon frames. They require a flat solid surface such as a platform bed or tatami or floor. If using over slats. we suggest a piece of Luan Underlayment (available at any big box store) so the sleep surface is completely flat.
